The Presbyterian Church of Hamilton has come to be known as a congregation with a heart for children, teens, and their families. Families with widely varied needs and from very diverse socio-economic circumstances find the love of Christ expressed in very tangible ways here each week. Parents of infants, toddlers, pre-school and elementary age children are warmly welcomed with individual care and concern in weekday programs at the Presbyterian Pre-school and the Creative Center for Children. Many of the families whose children benefit from these programs move easily into the worship life of the congregation and its outreach ministries.
A ministry team of faithful volunteers from the congregation offers a ministry of welcome and hospitality to the families from the community. Practical assistance that serves the needs of participant families deepens ties with these families, and personal invitations to special events in the life of the congregation provide a natural doorway into the fellowship, worship, and service that is all part of the journey of faith at The Presbyterian Church.
Sunday School classes for children and youth provide a curriculum rooted in the Reformed heritage and in tune with the life experience of young people in a contemporary setting. A growing corps of dedicated and well-trained volunteers give children a variety of ways to experience to soul-shaping power of the gospel.
The Presbyterian Church of Hamilton has become known as vibrant and varied center for youth ministries. Middle School and High School programs include Sunday morning study and worship, Sunday evening fellowship and social activities, weekend retreats and a variety of service projects and mission trips. Adult leaders are trained and work closely with the youth ministry staff person to nurture spiritual commitment and growth in each young person. Contact with students at school activities by staff and volunteer leaders, deepen the relational connection through which the faith development of each one is supported.
