Maundy Thursday Tenebrae Service

Maundy Thursday Tenebrae Service

Thursday, April 18, 2019, 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Location: Front St - Sanctuary, 23 S. Front St., Hamilton, OH US 45011

Plan now to join us for a very meaningful time of worship on Maundy Thursday.  Our Choir, the Celebration Singers, will be presenting a new work called "It is Finished" - A Tenebrae service by Mary McDonald.  We will use song and narration to tell the dramatic and historic events of Holy Week.  A Tenebrae service is not new to our church, but this presentation definitely is.  Pray about who you might want to invite.

WHEN:  April 18, 2019 - 7:30 p.m.

WHERE:  The Presbyterian Church, 23 South Front Street, Hamilton, Ohio

                 Front Street Sanctuary

"Tenebrae" comes from the Latin meaning "Shadows" or "Darkness", so this is a service of shadows.  The Tenebrae service makes use of gradually diminishing light to symbolize the events of Holy Week from the triumphant Palm Sunday entry through Jesus' burial.  At the conclusion of the service, worshippers leave in silence to ponder the impact of Christ's death and await the coming Resurrection.   Remember, without Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, there would be no Easter.  Come worship with us!
