now what?

Everywhere I go someone is sick. Someone has a cold! Someone has the flu! It has even found our home.   They say it is one of the worst flu epidemics in quit some time. I sometimes wonder if Jesus ever caught a cold or came down with the flu? He certainly was around enough sick people. In fact on one occasion, Jesus was on his way to heal a little girl who was sick, but on his way there he gets interrupted by someone else who has been sick for 12 years. So, He stops to heal this person and while he does, someone arrives and tells him that the little girl who was sick, has died.   Let me ask you, do you ever get interrupted in your day? Have you ever started your day thinking, I have just enough time to get everything done that I need. And then your cell phone rings or you get a tex and your entire day is shot. You find yourself having to stop what you are doing and do something not on your schedule? And you mutter to yourself, “I do not have time for this” Grrrrrrrrrr! I sometimes think that life would be so much easier if there weren’t all these interruptions. So why in the world does God allow all these unscheduled    inconveniences in our lives? Is there any possible explanation for all these interruptions in our lives. They are such a nuisance! …………………………..Or is it possible that these interruptions are part of God’s schedule for my day? (oh I hate it when he starts talking like that!) Is it possible that maybe God wants my perfectly scheduled day to be interrupted for something more important than what I had planned.   Maybe God is hoping that I will allow my day to be interrupted so that He can use me to help heal someone who is hurting ? Maybe, just maybe, God is interrupting my day so that he can use me to help bring life back to someone who is about to give up completely? Oh by the way, the little girl who died, Jesus still went to her house anyway and raised her from the dead. Now, which do you think would have made people follow Jesus more, healing a sick person with the flu or raising someone from the dead? Hmmmmmmm? Maybe God had a reason for Jesus being interrupted in his day? Maybe God has a reason for the interruptions through out your day?

Scripture: Mark 5:35 While he was still speaking, some people came from the leader’s house to say, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the teacher any further?” 36 But overhearing[g] what they said, Jesus said to the leader of the synagogue, “Do not fear, only believe.” … 41 He took her by the hand and said to her, “Little girl, get up!” 42 And immediately the girl got up and began to walk about. At this they were overcome with amazement.

Prayer: Lord, forgive me when I get frustrated because of interruptions. Help me to realize that there might be a more important schedule that you are trying to keep. Amen.
